Dialysis Modality
  1. Hemodialysis
Hemodialysis is the most common type of therapy for kidney failure. Dialysis is an alternative method of removing waste products and excess fluid from the bloodstream when a patient’s kidneys are no longer able to complete this function. A dialysis machine is an artificial kidney which cleanses the blood. Throughout the course of hemodialysis, blood is drawn from the patient into the dialysis machine, blood circulated through a special filter of a dialysis machine, and then returned to the patient.
  2. CRRTContinuous Renal Replacement Therapy
Acute Renal Therapy includes multiple therapy types, including the two most common; continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) and Therapeutic Plasma Exchange (TPE). CRRT is a dialysis modality used to treat critically ill, hospitalized patients in the intensive care unit who develop acute kidney injury (AKI).
  3. Peritoneal Dialysis CAPD/CCPD
Peritoneal dialysis( CAPD/CCPD) is a way to remove waste products from your blood when your kidneys can no longer do the job adequately. A cleansing fluid flows through a tube (catheter) into part of your abdomen and filters waste products from your blood. After a prescribed period of time, the fluid with filtered waste products flows out of your abdomen and is discarded.
